Coach

Learn Softball Toronto was started by players that loved the sport but did not see proper representation of themselves in the softball community. Coaches at Learn Softball Toronto are volunteers who have experience playing softball or baseball, or have experience in teaching or coaching sports. Our coaches are exclusively women, trans, and non-binary players, reflecting the players of Learn Softball Toronto.

If you’re interested in coaching contact LearnSoftballTO@gmail.com, message us on Instagram (@learnsoftballto), or fill out the contact form.

Meet Our Coaches

Learn Softball Toronto (LST) is only possible because of the many volunteer coaches who generously share their experience and love of the game with the LST community. Meet the volunteer coaches you’ll see most often.

Alex (they/them) has been a coach and board member of LST since the beginning. They have been playing ball for over 30 years, most recently in Notso Amazon and Toronto Downtown Fastpitch League. They are passionate about inclusion in sport and enjoy getting to know softball better from lesson planning and coaching perspectives. Alex is also an organizer at Queer Climb Toronto.

Allison (they/them) joined LST in the summer of 2023, but they’ve been running around a dirt diamond since they were five years old. They love helping people discover the joy of softball and figuring out what works best for them. By day, Allison works on human rights policy and programming in the public and non-profit sectors.

Kanchan (she/her) found her way to softball as an adult playing recreationally well into her 40s and spending many seasons on the Notso Amazon Softball League Collective over the past 20 years.

She’s been volunteering with LST for several years —after Kim firmly (and correctly) pointed out that she had too much experience to join as a player.

She’s also recently taken up Baseball5 over the past two winters.

She values the collaborative and supportive learning environment that LST creates, making space for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and confidence levels. She’s proud to still be out on the field—contributing, learning, and (usually) remembering to stretch while helping build community and lower barriers.

Kim (she/her) is an environmentalist and community builder. She is passionate about making softball more accessible and sharing her love of the game with others. She started LST in 2021 as a response to the lack of safe spaces for adult beginners to play the sport.

She is the Director of LST, Toronto Downtown Fastpitch League, and Baseball5TO. Kim also volunteers on Softball Canada’s DEI Committee.

Lindsay (she/her) is a founding LST board member, where she’s helped to shape the league’s growth and direction. She also serves on the executive leadership of the East Toronto Women’s Fastpitch Association as Vice President, channeling her project management expertise, strategic oversight, and organizational strength to help build meaningful, positive experiences for every player.
